Successful transitioning from home to school, socialization and participation in a small group are hallmarks of this program for three-year-olds which focuses on developing self-confidence through active and creative learning. The curriculum introduces colors, shapes, and numbers. Songs, finger-plays, and stories are used to expand expressive language.
LUNCH BUDDIES
A lunch-time enrichment program is offered several times throughout the school year in order to extend the day of our three-year-olds. This program provides additional time for children to either remain at or come early to school to eat lunch and further play/socialize with classmates.
PRE-KINDERGARTEN (PRE-K)Program
3-DAY AM TWTH,
This program for four-year-olds focuses on kindergarten readiness skills: counting, classifying, name recognition, and beginning identification of the sight and sounds of each letter of the alphabet. Fours will further develop their fine motor skills through hands on activities such as: manipulating small materials and items, cutting and printing their own names in preparation for kindergarten.
PRE-K ENRICHMENT PROGRAM 3-Day AM, 4-Day AM/M-TH or T-TH, 5 Day
This afternoon program for four-year-olds expands ideas that were presented in the morning class. In addition to lunch and socializing, this class provides many opportunities for dramatic play and creativity that will further enhance your child's approach to learning while attending an extended-day program.
This afternoon program is designed to enrich the day of a child who attends a morning kindergarten program at another location. The program reinforces fine motor skills and pre-reading skills through weekly themes (insects, dinosaurs, transportation, etc.), games, and many fun-filled hands-on activities to include arts and crafts.
Transportation is provided by Council Rock School District to Joy Bell for children who attend morning kindergarten at Hillcrest, Holland or Rolling Hills Elementary Schools.
EXTENDED CARE PROGRAM 3:15 PM until 6:00 PM
This program provides extended afternoon care for students who attend Joy Bell's Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten Enrichment Program. The children interact and further socialize through involvement in games, arts and crafts, snack, outdoor nature walks and playground activities (weather permitting).
PHYSICAL EDUCATION PROGRAM
Joy Bell provides a one-half hour, weekly physical education class for all its students. This program is designed to introduce children to gross motor movement with the purpose of developing the physical, social, behavioral and emotional well-being of each child in a non-competitive, fun-filled learning environment.
The Physical Education Program incorporates music and utilizes a variety of gym equipment to achieve intended developmental goals, while providing all students with unlimited movement experiences and various ways to nurture their beginning love of exercise in the process.
MUSIC PROGRAM
A music teacher provides the students with a developmentally appropriate music lesson once a month. Each lesson focuses on building an appreciation and love of music. Lessons utilize songs, signing, movement, and a variety of instruments.
